Mayawati Obsessed with becoming Prime Minister

 US diplomatic cables, Mayawati has many obsessions, including her grooming and fashion. So much so that according to one of the leaked cables, when she needed new sandals, her private jet flew empty to Mumbai to retrieve her preferred brand.

The exercise is said to have cost the state exchequer a whopping Rs. 10 lakh. The cables also go on to describe her as "obsessed with becoming prime minister".

The cables, dated October 23, 2008 and marked confidential, are among the latest set of documents released by WikiLeaks in recent days.  Mayawati has also been described as being paranoid about her security and fears assassination and employs food tasters to guard against poisoning.
