Sensex, Nifty opens 1.60% lower 12-sep-2011
The BSE Sensex slipped 1.6% early on Monday tracking its weak Asian peers after the resignation of a top German central bank board member casting further doubt on Europe's ability to tackle its sovereign debt crisis.
The broader 50-share NSE index was down 1.7 per cent to 4,973.
"The trend deciding level for the day is 16,900 on the Sensex and 5110 levels on the Nifty.we may witness a further rally up to 17,109 - 17,351/5,133 - 5178 levels," according to a report by Metasystech.
